1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using ShredSpace, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use the platform.

2. About ShredSpace

ShredSpace is a peer-to-peer marketplace that connects individuals seeking outdoor and adventure equipment rentals with equipment owners. Through the platform, users can discover, book, and offer equipment such as mountain bikes, snowboards, skis, surfboards, paddleboards, dirt bikes, jet skis, and other outdoor recreation equipment.

ShredSpace acts solely as a marketplace facilitator and is not the owner, operator, provider, or insurer of equipment listed on the platform unless explicitly stated otherwise.

3. User Accounts

To access certain features of the platform, users may be required to create an account.

By creating an account, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and current information.
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials.
  • Accept responsibility for all activity conducted through your account.
  • Promptly update information that becomes inaccurate.

Users must be at least 18 years old to create an account and use the platform.

4. Listings and Equipment

Equipment owners are solely responsible for ensuring that:

  • Listings are accurate and complete.
  • Equipment is safe, functional, and suitable for its intended use.
  • Photos accurately represent the equipment being offered.
  • Equipment complies with all applicable laws and regulations.

Renters are responsible for reviewing listing details before making a booking.

5. Rentals, Payments, and Platform Fees

Rental fees, service fees, taxes, and any applicable charges will be displayed before a booking is confirmed.

By completing a booking, renters agree to pay all applicable charges associated with the rental.

Owners authorize ShredSpace to collect payments on their behalf and distribute earnings according to platform policies.

Platform Fees

ShredSpace charges service fees to support marketplace operations, payment processing, fraud prevention, customer support, and ongoing platform development.

Owner Fees

Equipment owners are charged a 5% commission on the rental subtotal, subject to a minimum fee of $5.00 per transaction.

Renter Fees

Renters are charged a 15% service fee on the rental subtotal, subject to a minimum fee of $15.00 per transaction.

Examples

  • $100 rental:

    • Owner fee: $5.00
    • Renter fee: $15.00

  • $500 rental:

    • Owner fee: $25.00
    • Renter fee: $75.00

All applicable fees will be clearly displayed prior to booking confirmation.

ShredSpace reserves the right to modify fees in the future. Fee changes will not affect bookings that have already been confirmed.

6. Cancellations and Refunds

Cancellation and refund eligibility may vary depending on the owner's selected cancellation policy and the circumstances of the booking.

ShredSpace reserves the right to issue refunds, credits, or adjustments when necessary to resolve disputes, technical issues, fraud concerns, or customer service matters.

7. Equipment Use and Responsibility

Renters are responsible for:

  • Using equipment safely and legally.
  • Following manufacturer recommendations and safety guidelines.
  • Complying with all local, state, and federal laws.
  • Returning equipment in substantially the same condition in which it was received, excluding normal wear and tear.

Renters may be financially responsible for damage, theft, loss, excessive cleaning, missing accessories, or misuse of rented equipment.

8. Assumption of Risk

Outdoor recreation and adventure sports involve inherent risks, including the risk of serious injury, property damage, disability, or death.

By renting, listing, or using equipment through ShredSpace, users voluntarily assume all risks associated with the use of such equipment and participation in related activities.

Users acknowledge that ShredSpace does not supervise, inspect, or control the use of rented equipment.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ShredSpace shall not be liable for:

  • Injuries, accidents, or damages arising from equipment use.
  • Equipment failures or defects.
  • Disputes between renters and owners.
  • Lost profits, indirect damages, incidental damages, or consequential damages.

ShredSpace's total liability for any claim shall not exceed the total fees paid to ShredSpace in connection with the booking that gave rise to the claim.

10. Prohibited Items and Conduct

Users may not list, rent, or attempt to rent:

  • Illegal items.
  • Stolen property.
  • Fraudulent or misrepresented equipment.
  • Dangerous or prohibited items that violate applicable law.

Users may not engage in:

  • Fraudulent activity.
  • Harassment or abuse of other users.
  • Circumvention of platform fees.
  • Activity that interferes with the operation or security of the platform.

11. Account Suspension and Termination

ShredSpace reserves the right to suspend, restrict, or terminate accounts at its sole discretion when users violate these Terms of Service, applicable laws, or platform policies.

12. Changes to These Terms

ShredSpace may update these Terms of Service from time to time.

Continued use of the platform after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
